MoveNourishBelieve Week 1

Being a Sweat Pink ambassador I was excited to learn about a challenge that was going to be taking place for the first 3 weeks in February called the Move Nourish Believe Challenge, or for short MNBChallenge. It's a challenge that basically keeps people from getting off track from their New Years resolutions, and keeps them healthy into the month of February. I myself didn't really have any specific resolutions, but I did however vow to be healthier this year, so the challenge fit in perfectly.

In week one the focus was Move. Monday through Friday there was a different challenge to get you moving, and you were to share how you completed that challenge with the rest of the participants on Twitter and Instagram. It's always fun using social media, and I've found that it holds me accountable and gives me tons of motivation to keep pushing and to being healthy.

Day 1: Sweat it out! Show us your favorite way to sweat.

Anyone who knows me will know that my go-to workout will be going for a run. Running has been my favorite way to sweat for the past 2 years. Whether it be during a race, or hitting the streets for a short training run - running gets my endorphins flowing.

Day 2: Change it up! Sweat a new way! Select a workout from movenourishbelieve.com and show us your post- sweat session selfie.

I went on the website and decide to try out the 10 minute core workout by Christine Bullock. The moves were hard, but I got them done. And I definitely felt it in my abs the next day. I love the feeling of a little bit of soreness - it lets me know my workouts are doing their job!

Day 3: Let's get planking! Plank for at least 5 minutes today! You can split the planks up.

I have a love/hate relationship with planks. I LOVE what they do for my body, but I HATE holding them. Haha. They get hard towards the end. But that's the name of the game - if it's easy it's not going to give you the results you want. And this was a little harder for me than usual with the extra core work I got in the day before. I did two forearm planks, one straight arm plank and a modified side plank on each side.

Day 4: Buddy Up! Workout with a friend today.

Today we were to workout with a buddy. The boyfriend and I had a long day and went out to see an awesome show so we came home to do a quick yoga stretch session. Yes he's awesome and did yoga with me. And yes, we're cute and wore our matching Best Damn Race shirts. And even more awesome is the fact that this challenge forced us to "move". We would have probably just came home and crashed, but instead we got in our workout for the day. Although not a strenuous one, it was still a way to keep our bodies moving.

Day 5: Fave Friday! Show us your five fitness favorites! Exercises, people, whatever gets you moving and motivated!

Fave Friday was all about our five fitness favorites! Mine are shown in the picture above. The first is my favorite motivational quote. "If it is important to you you will find a way. If not you will find an excuse." I think this holds true in all aspects of life, not just fitness - but it's definitely true from a fitness perspective. The second is Feetures socks. I absolutely love these socks for running and pretty much any other workout I do. They have some compression in the arch area and I've never gotten any blisters wearing them. My 3rd favorite is GU Energy Gels. I use these gels to fuel my long runs and they have never let me down. My favorite flavors are salter caramel, chocolate outrage, and peanut butter. My 4th favorite item is my trusty Newtons. Ever since I've switched to these running shoes I have not experienced any shin or calf pain and for that I am in love! And of course my lovely garmin. Without my running watch I could not track my distance or pace and my training would suffer.

Challenge yourself with daily & weekly challenges and see why the Move Nourish Believe philosophy is one to live by. I am.
